Acer Showcase World’s Thinnest Ultrabook

Acer introduced the S5 Ultrabook, a ultrabook who claimed the world’s thinnest. Acer gait Ultrabook marks on the world’s largest electronics exhibition, the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2012 in Las Vegas. S5 will be marketed starting second quarter of 2012. Sailing 13.3 inch, ultrabook thinnest part is only as thick as 15 mm. While weighing only 1.35 kg.

“This laptop does look like the thinnest and lightest, and a milestone for ultrabook other vendors,” said Tim Bajarin, an analyst at Creative Strategies. Ultrabook itself becomes the new flagship for Acer. Quoted by AFP on Monday (09.01.2012), they promise a lot more ultrabook model to be launched.

“We are committed to developing this technology. In the second quarter of 2012, we will have 4 models ultrabook and there will be more to come,” said JT Wang, Acer’s Chief Executive. Wang estimates ultarbook will have a percentage of 35% of the entire Acer product that was released in 2012. Ultrabook trends are based on Microsoft Windows is predicted this year’s outbreak.

In addition ultrabook with fellow vendors like Asus or Lenovo, Acer will compete with Apple in the segment of super-thin laptops. Apple has long been known for its super-slim laptop products, the MacBook Air.
